We are a campaign group for carers across the UK run by independent, unpaid carers.
We have experience of the care system as it operates in the UK today and we consider it to be desperately under funded and not fit for purpose. We aim to provide a non-party-political campaign platform to change the way that opinion-formers, politicians and journalists think about carers.
Every day we hear of local authorities closing, withdrawing or cutting back on essential facilities and services. The already inadequate care system is dying on its feet. We have to halt that process, not next year, not the year after that, we have to halt it now.
Some of our current campaigns focus on:
+General Election Campaign - Carerwatch know that unless family carers are placed at the heart of the care system, the system will fail. Carerwatch are fighting to ensure that carers are given the financial and practical support they need.
+General Election Campaign - This campaign is asking for protection from threats and sanctions under ESA for the most seriously sick and disabled people.
We have found that for people tied to the home as Carers the world wide web is a great opportunity and we intend to use it. We found one another on the web and discovered that complaints from carers are being dismissed one by one, year in and year out in different areas all over the country so we decided to join together on the web to make ourselves heard.
